Contributing to Causes Through Design

Design can have a big impact when it's targeted in the right areas.  I volounteer my time, often in collaboration with my wife Lola, to causes and projects I care about.  I'm always looking for new charities and projects to contribute to so don't hesitate to get in touch.

//MOBILE CONCEPT_2019

I'm helping a small team of female founders explore how the stigma associated with a menstrual cycle can be deconstructed.  Through a period tracking app that reframes your cycle as more about health, they're showing how it can empower other aspects of your life.

AIDS LIFECYCLE BIKE KITS

//GRAPHIC.DESIGN

In collaboration with SheSpoke (an all-female bike crew) and the Brown Breakers (cyclists-of-color), we designed a bike jersey for them as they completed the 545-mile AIDS/LifeCycle ride to raise funds and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The kits incorporated the iconic pink triangle, and on the back, highlighted key statistics to raise awareness about women and people of color suffering from HIV & AIDS.  The kits were featured in an issue of Vanguard Quarterly produced by the LGBTQ center in LA.

AJ STRONG MEMORIAL RUN MEDALS

//GRAPHIC DESIGN_2017

Team Cancer Sucks sponsors an annual charity run form the AJ foundation.  I designed the medals for their 3rd annual fun run.

My dad has his own gifting hobby, covering songs with re-written personal lyrics for family ocations.  To pay it back, for my dads 60th birthday I built him an electric guitar based off a Fender Telecaster.  My goal was to clean up the iconic design and add a bunch of personal details inspired by other famous guitars.  Many of the shapes have been simplified and the fret board and pickups have been set into the body.  The body is ash with a redwood top, the neck is maple with an ebony fretboard, and the hardware is bare brass.  On the back I laser etched my dads discography
